RIBOT gallery presents In Abeyance, the second solo exhibition by British artist Harrison Pearce, a project that explores the condition of suspension as a state charged with tension and possibility. The title refers to a temporary and indefinite phase, in which energy and movement are held back without ever resolving, oscillating between physical desire and formal indeterminacy.

Through painting, the central medium of his practice, Pearce constructs abstract compositions in which biomorphic forms, soft and rounded, appear compressed within mechanical and architectural structures: cavities, niches, enclosures. These presences seem on the verge of expanding or collapsing, yet remain suspended in an unstable equilibrium, restrained by a cool, pearlescent, metallic palette that tempers their latent energy.

Suspension thus becomes a dense, almost corporeal condition, where body, mind, and machine intertwine without opposition, finding in the pictorial surface a space of convergence. The work emerges as a field of tension between organic and artificial, impulse and control, making visible what usually escapes representation.

Alongside the canvases, the exhibition includes a series of limited-edition works that echo the artist’s sculptural and installation-based dimension, further exploring themes such as automation and free will. In Abeyance thus takes shape as a visual reflection on waiting: not a neutral pause, but an active space in which possibility continues to vibrate.
