Pirelli HangarBicocca presents Rebecca, the first major institutional solo exhibition by Benni Bosetto. Conceived as an environment to inhabit, the works transform the exhibition space into an imaginative home where lightness, rest, and pleasure take on critical value. The project takes shape as a “sensitive manifesto” reflecting on the tensions of the present, between freedom and control, self-determination and constraint, productivity and desire, proposing daydreaming as a form of resistance.
Through drawing, sculpture, installation, and performance, Bosetto explores identity and human experience, placing the body at the center as a tool of relation. The works construct an intimate and layered imaginary in which individuals, organisms, and species coexist and contaminate one another; desire, vulnerability, and presence emerge as fields of inquiry. Literary, anthropological, and visual sources are reworked into dreamlike, hyper-layered narratives that generate immersive and mutable environments.
Curated by Fiammetta Griccioli, the exhibition transforms the Shed into a living domestic organism. The title references the novel Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier: the house becomes an architectural body and a feminine memory, a symbol of hospitality and relationship.
The exhibition unfolds through environments that evoke parts of the body and host installations, drawings, and performances. Ornament, rest, and ritual become tools for slowing productive time and recovering an emotional and imaginative space, where visitors are invited to pause, dream, and redefine their present.
