ScopriMi: nine different perspectives to perceive, explore, and experience Milan

Milan is made of steps that shape the city and our way of inhabiting it. ScopriMi is the new project by Ad Artem: experiential tours that invite you to slow down, pause, and change pace, transforming your gaze and allowing you to feel the city with new eyes and body.

Quick steps, slower elderly steps, shorter younger steps, steps that dodge those of others, steps that pause at crosswalks briefly tinted red, steps that, though still, move within subways, trams, scooters, and bicycles.

Milan is constantly traversed by footsteps, which reveal the posture that underlies both our movement and our pauses.

Often, this posture is rooted in a present tense that becomes habit: a kind of muscle memory that guides the body, the gaze, and, consequently, also our way of thinking, being, and perceiving the space around us.

ScopriMi is a project by Ad Artem that offers nine experiential tours, in which it is possible to experience not only Milan but also oneself, together, through ever-new perspectives and postures, tuned like musical instruments to the theme of the chosen tour.

Through itineraries and individual and collective activities, different for each tour, Milan does not merely present itself, but allows itself to be traversed. The city reveals itself and becomes a shared body, from Roman Milan to the contemporary Milan of CityLife.

The project is therefore designed as a way of stepping outside oneself in order to encounter a familiar Milan that, precisely at the moment it is traversed, becomes unfamiliar and new. Guided by expert guides, participants move through the city in a state of attentiveness, where observing and doing merge, and where every gesture becomes an opportunity for discovery, until one feels an integral part of a time and a place.

Each participant will receive the ScopriMi kit: a tote bag that transforms into a travel bag, containing a personal notebook and tools for exploring the city, allowing them to experience both the suspended time of the chosen historical period and the here and now of the experience.

It is by letting the space speak, in fact, that one discovers not only its history, but also one’s own present.

Through ScopriMi, Milan reveals itself as a collective, lived, and living body, a score of steps and gestures intertwining across past, transitional, and present time.
